A dealer is tied to one brand and its sales network. An independent specialist is a separate shop that works on the same cars with factory-level tooling, without the showroom. Both can maintain a Porsche properly. The practical differences are who you talk to, how findings are explained, and whether the shop also works on older, modified and track cars.
What independent actually means
Independent means the shop is not owned by a manufacturer or a dealer group. It does not mean generic.
A specialist works on a narrow range of cars every day and invests in the diagnostic platforms those cars were designed around. A technician who works on your model weekly knows where to look.
Alpine Autowerks has been independent for over 25 years. See our Porsche service in Calgary for what we do every week.

What about my warranty?
Your factory warranty doesn’t require dealership visits for scheduled maintenance.
In Canada you have the right to have scheduled maintenance performed by any licensed shop. What matters is that the work follows the factory schedule with approved parts and is properly documented.
We follow your manufacturer’s service intervals with OEM parts and factory-approved fluids. See how a maintenance schedule works.

When the dealer is the right call
Some work belongs at the dealer. Warranty repairs and safety recalls are paid for by the manufacturer and are carried out through its dealer network.
For the work you pay for yourself, such as scheduled maintenance, brakes, tires, diagnosis and repairs, you choose the shop.
If you have been quoted a big repair, we verify the diagnosis before you commit to it. Sometimes the expensive answer is the wrong one.

Questions owners ask
Will using an independent shop void my warranty?
No. In Canada you have the right to have scheduled maintenance performed by any licensed shop. What matters is that the work follows the factory schedule with approved parts and is properly documented.
Do independent shops use genuine parts?
We use OEM or manufacturer-approved equivalents that meet or exceed specification, and your invoice shows exactly which. Factory-spec fluids are non-negotiable with us.
My car is still under factory warranty. Can I come to you?
Yes. That’s exactly when documentation matters most, and every service leaves a record you can show.
Can you check a quote from a dealer or another shop?
Yes, and we recommend it for any large quote. We verify the finding independently and tell you plainly whether we agree.
Do you only work on Porsche?
No. We service all makes. European and performance vehicles are our specialty, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen and Land Rover.
