Ask for the evidence behind the quote, then have an independent shop verify the diagnosis before you commit. A correct diagnosis survives a second look. A wrong one is far cheaper to find before the work is done than after. Sometimes the expensive answer is the wrong one.
Ask for the evidence first
A diagnosis should come with proof. Before you approve a large repair, ask what it is based on.
- The fault codes, and what was tested after reading them
- Photos or measurements of the failed part
- What was ruled out, and how
- A written quote that lists parts and labour
A fault code tells you where to start looking, not what is broken. Replacing parts by code is the most expensive way to diagnose a car.

Where second opinions matter most
Transmission quotes are where owners get frightened into big spending. Transmission replacements are among the most misdiagnosed repairs in the trade.
Engine work is the other. After teardown and measurement there is an honest comparison to make between a rebuild and a replacement.
In both cases, big verdicts deserve real evidence: a factory-level scan, fluid inspection and a road test before any conclusion.

How a second opinion works here
Describe the symptom
When it happens, what it sounds like, what changed. Bring the quote you were given.
We test and trace
Factory-level scan, live data and physical inspection on the lift. Road testing when the fault only shows on the move.
Findings, then your decision
You get the cause, the evidence and a written quote. We tell you plainly whether we agree with the first diagnosis.
What a verified diagnosis looks like
You should leave with something you can check yourself: photos, data and readings you can review or take anywhere.
That is how our diagnostics in Calgary work. Evidence with every finding, and nothing repaired without your approval.
We verify before you commit, ours or anyone else’s. Our only incentive is the correct answer.

Questions owners ask
Another shop quoted me a major repair. Can you check their diagnosis?
Yes, and we recommend it for any large quote. We verify the finding independently and tell you plainly whether we agree.
Is it rude to ask for a second opinion?
No. A shop that is confident in its diagnosis has evidence to show, and a second look only confirms it.
What should I bring?
The written quote, any fault codes or photos you were given, and a description of the symptom: when it happens, what it sounds like and what changed.
What happens after you check it?
You get the findings and a written quote. Repair with us, take it elsewhere, or decide to wait. The diagnosis is yours either way.
Do you only check European cars?
We service all makes. European and performance vehicles are our specialty, and that is where our tooling advantage lies.
